Tucked just off the Barrachois Mountain Gorge Trail, Ironville Falls is an easy-to-miss side trip that’s well worth the effort.
About 1 km in, keep an eye out for a fork to the left. The turnoff isn’t heavily marked, and many hikers walk right past it. Once you’re on the side trail, things get a bit rougher underfoot with roots and damp spots, but it’s a short push to the falls.
The cascade itself isn’t huge, but it has a quiet, tucked-away feel as it spills over dark rock into a cool pool below. It’s the kind of place locals have been slipping off to for years, back when nearby communities relied on these woods and waterways for work and everyday life.
If you’re already heading into Barrachois Mountain Gorge, this quick detour adds a peaceful stop that feels like your own little discovery.
