Trail Description

You’ll find Myles Doyle Falls near Whycocomagh — a 2km return walk rated 1B for difficulty.

Just off River Denys Road, Myles Doyle Falls is an easy stop that’s better done as a short walk.

You can drive most of the way in. But if you park near the highway and walk the road instead, you turn it into a relaxed 2 km return walk with just enough time to take in the river valley and the quiet leading up to the falls. This is old Cape Breton. Farms, small industry, and families who knew these woods long before they were a stop on a Google map.

About 1km in, watch for flagging tape along the roadside. A short, slightly rough path drops you into the trees and down to the falls.

Myles Doyle Falls is a three-tiered drop through rock, each one reshaping the water as it goes. In spring, it’s loud and full. In summer, it softens into a set of clear pools and gentle cascades.

It’s a quick visit if you are in a rush. But take the walk, linger a bit, and it starts to feel like you found something instead of just stopping at it.
