Set along the South Arm of Sydney Harbour, Petersfield blends quiet nature walks with deep local history. Once a grand private estate in the early 1900s (known for some of the most lavish parties in the province) it’s now a public park where families gather for picnics, casual strolls, Canada Day celebrations, and the occasional wedding shoot.
The park features close to 7 km of easy trails that wind through shaded forest, past old stone foundations, and alongside the water with views of the Canadian Coast Guard College. Look for songbirds, blooming flowers (many still thriving from the original estate gardens), interpretive plaques, and the occasional squirrel scolding you from a nearby feeder.
Petersfield is one of Sydney’s go-to green spaces. A great place for a family walk, a solo loop to clear your head, or an afternoon snack with a view. You won’t need a map or hiking boots, just time to enjoy it.
