Lewis Mountain

The Lewis Mountain trail was once a road leading from Aberdeen, near Whycocomagh, to Lake Ainsley.

The trail follows the old Lewis Mountain Road along a beautiful stream full of photo ops and places to dip your toes to cool off. Being an old road, the trail is fairly clear and well defined but contains a few make-shift bridges, areas of rockiness, and tends to be quite wet after a rain or during spring runoff.

This trail is one of the nicer woodland trails I have hiked; offering a short stroll or a full day adventure cross country.

Travel the Trans-Canada Highway toward the town of Whycocomagh. 17km past the Red Barn restaurant and gift shop, you will see a transformer station on your right, park here. The trail starts at the back end of the parking area.
